"Observing Jason's acting classes was a revelation! His powerful insights and commitment to each student's needs proved transformative. The before-and-after effect was truly remarkable. Furthermore, his knowledge of theatre as craft is equally matched by his appreciation for dramatic literature, an added strength to what he can offer his students."
-Gary Vena, Ph.D. Professor Emeritus, Manhattan College & The New School for Drama
“Very happy to set Jason on his way after his committed work studying this empowering acting process. After first learning this technique through my London workshops...(which he personally sponsored), Jason went the extra mile by doing [several] eight week one-on-one intensive workshops with me. Also, having observed his wonderful voice classes, I already know that his teaching is directly in line with the freedom and power that the Active Analysis process provides for the actor. Onwards!”
- Cotter Smith, Actor (Mindhunter, X-Men, Art)
When I was gifted a ‘Weekend Active Analysis Workshop’ as a Birthday Present I initially thought I would have preferred a Star Wars T-shirt or some Bottles of Beer. But eventually the date of the workshop came around. I went armed with my yoga mat (as I knew we’d be doing lots of movement), my books (to support my head while on the mat), my notebook, and pen too. When I approached the venue I was full of trepidation as I didn’t know what to expect. I had some smug feelings of, ‘what is there left for me to learn?’ ‘I’m 50 years old’. ‘I've been a professional actor for 20 years, what can I gain from this?’ However, by the end of workshop I was in love with the technique and a complete convert. I felt so inspired by this new technique. It was expertly lead by Jason.
A few weeks after the workshop I used the technique at home in preparation for a role I had in a BBC1 series called Marriage. The technique allowed me to ‘play’ with the scene and freed me up to be physically inventive with the monologue I had within the TV Episode. I was very happy with the filming of those scenes in Marriage. I’m sure that satisfaction was aided by the new technique I had experienced. I highly recommend Active Analysis and this workshop’s leader!
-Peter F Gardiner, Actor
"I had so much fun working with Jason on my Standard/Neutral American accent for an audition. It was a technical workout that also opened up many juicy, specific character choices, greater understanding of my scenes, and a social cultural life within the voice. Far more sophisticated than an imitation of an American sound picked up from TV. And I booked the job
-Emma Laird Craig, Actor (Netflix’s The Crown, Fatal Attraction National Tour)
"Working in the world of business I had always wanted to explore some voice work knowing (as we all do) the importance of communication and having the nagging suspicion that I wasn’t as effective as I could be.
Working with Jason certainly opened my eyes to exciting possibilities. His secret sauce is that he combines deep expertise across a variety of voice & movement disciplines, as I am now convinced these are inextricably linked and need to be worked on together for our best use! Jason tailors his classes to what he identifies are our individual needs and habits versus our goals (not being an actor or voice artist, my goal was very vague and that was ok too!). His enthusiasm is infectious and classes are addictive. Once I opened the can, I realised there is just so much to be explored. I feel the skills and knowledge I have attained have improved not only the way I communicate but also the healthiness of my physical use and the awareness by which I go through daily life. It's a journey I would highly recommend embarking on with Jason!"
- Roger L., Trader
"When I first encountered Jason as a voice and movement teacher at ‘The Actor’s Temple’ I remember thinking, oh this guy is great. From his very first disclaimer that he’s not everyone’s cup of tea and if you need to leave, he will in no way be offended, to coaxing the vocally shy into ‘painting the wall’ with full and vibrant sound. His classes are an unexpected joy and you walk away (a little taller) filled with confidence, determination and armed with information that he generously passes over. I have continued to work with Jason this past year, both in his group vocal classes and also weekly 121’s. It has changed me as an actor and the way I approach my work. His teachings have given me the tools for vocal workouts, accent work and active analysis. I am more confident in my auditions, in myself and even in this ridiculous lockdown situation, I have been booking work and that, is down to Jason’s classes. Besides his knowledge, professionalism, and endless enthusiasm, it’s Jason’s support that resonates the most. This is a teacher that is excited for you, excited for every self tape, every audition, every pencil and every job you book or don’t book. It’s all a learning curve and I am so grateful to have Jason, pointing the way. And honey, the only way is up!"
- Michelle Amir, Actor
"I think the voice, especially in this age of Zoom, is now a major first impression and we are not using it as best we could. If you are looking for that confident feeling that you are being heard or if you just want to find your true voice (and be impressed with what you find) then this is for you. I am amazed at how much I enjoy this class. I discovered first that we find our best voice through tuning our body prior. Jason takes you away from the carnival of life using Yoga, Alexander technique and Feldenkrais exercises. This helps your body become poised to deliver the best results. His comforting banter is brimming with pertinent knowledge and he is phenomenally supportive. As you are going through the voice exercises Jason holds you to task and gives constant notes on ways to improve. I leave each class with something to work on and as a bonus: a body that’s balanced, reset, and ready to take on the day."
